The Difference Between Single Coil Solenoid Valve and Double Coil Solenoid Valve

BRS

Electromagnetic valve (Electromagnetic valve) is an industrial equipment controlled by electromagnetic. It is an automation basic component used to control fluid. It belongs to the actuator and is not limited to hydraulic and pneumatic. Used in industrial control systems to adjust the direction, flow, speed, and other parameters of the medium.

How Single-Coil and Dual-Coil Solenoid Valves Work

Solenoid valves are divided into double electric control and single electric control. Double electric control means that there are two solenoid coils. The double coils should usually be electromagnetic directional valves.

The single coil is always charged into the air and the double coil is energized instantaneously. The spool valve of the single-coil solenoid valve is spring-returned, and the solenoid valve automatically resets after the solenoid valve is de-energized. The double-coil solenoid valve needs the other side of the coil to be energized to change the position.

The double-coil solenoid valve has two coils A and B. The action is as follows, A is not energized, B is not energized, and the solenoid valve is in the initial position. If A is energized at this time, B is not energized, and the solenoid valve moves in reverse.

After A is energized, it is de-energized, and B is not energized, the solenoid valve will no longer operate, maintaining the state when A is energized and B is not. When A is not energized, B is energized, and the solenoid valve returns to the initial position. In the next step, A is not energized, B is de-energized, the solenoid valve does not operate, and it is still in the initial position.

In general, if the coils A and B are not energized at the same time, the solenoid valve maintains the state when A is energized (while B is energized) or B is energized (and A is energized).

Single Coil Solenoid Valve Vs Dual Coil Solenoid Valve

The primary difference between a single-coil solenoid valve and a double-coil solenoid valve lies in the number of coils they each possess.

Single Coil Solenoid Valve:

This type of solenoid valve has only one coil. The coil is energized to open the valve, and when de-energized, a spring or other mechanism typically returns the valve to its closed position.

Single-coil solenoid valves are commonly used in applications where a momentary or one-way flow is required. They are energy-efficient since power is only needed to change the valve's state.

Double Coil Solenoid Valve:

In contrast, a double-coil solenoid valve has two coils. Each coil is associated with a specific state of the valve, either open or closed. When one coil is energized, it opens the valve, and when the other coil is energized, it closes the valve.

Double coil solenoid valves are often used in applications where maintaining a specific state (open or closed) without continuous power is necessary. They are commonly referred to as latching solenoid valves.

In summary, the key distinction is that a single-coil solenoid valve requires continuous power to maintain its state, while a double-coil solenoid valve can maintain its state without continuous power, making it suitable for certain applications where power conservation is important.

The choice between the two depends on the specific requirements of the intended application.

Conclusion

1. The number of electromagnetic coils is different.

The single solenoid valve has only one solenoid coil; the double solenoid valve has two solenoid coils.

2. Different purposes.

Single solenoid valves are generally used for 2-position 3-port solenoid valves; dual-control solenoid valves are generally used for 2-position 5-port solenoid valves.

The solenoid coil is an important part of the solenoid valve. As a professional solenoid valve manufacturer, brs can provide you with the most professional electromagnetic coil products. If you have requirements, please contact us.
